Efficacy & effects

Short-term adjunctive treatment for weight loss in exogenous obesity

  • Exogenous obesity
View approved original text

This medication is used for patients with exogenous obesity who do not respond to appropriate dietary and exercise therapies. It is especially used as a short-term adjunctive therapy for those with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or higher, or those with a BMI of 27 kg/m2 or higher who have risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia. This medication complements weight-loss therapies based on exercise, behavior modification, and calorie restriction. It is important to use it alone without combining it with other appetite suppressants, and it plays a role in assisting weight loss. This helps improve healthy weight management.
