Precautions

This medicine should be used alone and for a short duration, as using it with other appetite suppressants may lead to serious heart problems. Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of a serious lung disease known as pulmonary hypertension; if symptoms occur, use should be halted immediately and a medical evaluation should be sought. As it may be associated with heart valve disease, the heart condition should be assessed before and during treatment, and it is advisable not to use this medication for individuals with heart problems. It should not be administered to those with specific heart diseases, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, mental anxiety conditions, or a history of substance abuse, or those currently taking central nervous system stimulants. Children under 16 years of age or women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should also not use this medication. Diabetic patients need to be cautious, as insulin dosage adjustment may be required when using this medication. This medication can affect the central nervous system, so attention is necessary when driving or operating hazardous machinery. Overdose may cause serious symptoms such as anxiety, coma, seizures, abnormal blood pressure, so prescribed dosages must be strictly adhered to. Pregnant women should avoid this medication as safety has not been established, and caution is needed for those who are breastfeeding. There is a potential for dependence with this medication, so sudden discontinuation after prolonged high-dose use can lead to extreme fatigue and depression. It should be kept out of the reach of children, and this medication is classified as a controlled substance requiring strict management.
