Efficacy & effects

Short-term adjunctive treatment for weight loss in exogenous obesity

  • Exogenous obesity
View approved original text

This medication is used for obese patients who have not responded adequately to appropriate dietary or exercise therapies. For example, it is applicable to patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 kg/m² or higher, or those with a BMI of 27 kg/m² or higher who have risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia. It is effective as a short-term adjunct to weight loss methods including exercise, behavioral modification, and calorie restriction. This drug must be administered alone without the use of other appetite suppressants, allowing for safe management. It helps evaluate the patient's health status based on BMI and to establish an appropriate treatment plan. Therefore, this medication is used to improve health issues related to weight loss.
