Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

1. Cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation: Slowly inject the required amount through a needle or cannula into the anterior chamber before or after lens removal. Injection should be done before cataract extraction and before lens implantation to achieve optimal corneal endothelial protection effect during intravitreal and extravitreal cataract surgeries. 2. Corneal transplant: Fill the anterior chamber with this medication until the corneal graft is removed and matched with the corneal surface level. Use this medication to coat the surgical instruments and the lens to be implanted.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with a history of allergy to its components or to protein-based drugs. When used in the eye, it may sometimes cause an increase in intraocular pressure. Rarely, issues such as ocular inflammation, corneal edema, or corneal opacity may occur. Additionally, various eye-related side effects, including bleeding in the anterior chamber or neovascularization of the iris, can occur, which should be monitored closely. After using this medication, opacifications may develop on the surface of the intraocular lens. This medication contains phosphates, which may rarely lead to calcification of the cornea in patients with severe corneal damage; therefore, it should be used with caution. Particularly right after surgery, intraocular pressure should be monitored frequently, and if the pressure increases, appropriate treatment should be obtained. After surgery, it is advisable to rinse or aspirate this medication to remove it from the eye whenever possible. During ultrasound emulsification, a space filled with irrigation fluid must be created between the drug and the lens to ensure safety. When cleaning surgical instruments, solutions containing quaternary ammonium compounds like benzalkonium chloride should not be used. This medication should not be used in conjunction with another drug called hyaluronidase. It must be used only for ophthalmic purposes and must not be injected intravascularly under any circumstances. Store the medication in the refrigerator, and allow it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before use. Care should be taken to avoid precipitate formation when mixed with components such as benzalkonium chloride or chlorhexidine. After opening, it should be used only once; any remaining medication should be discarded with the container. Care must be taken to avoid introducing air into the eye when using this medication mixed with air. Administer slowly and be cautious not to exceed the recommended amount. Overdosage may lead to increased intraocular pressure post-surgery. Keep the medication out of reach of children, avoid direct sunlight, and store in a cool, dry place sealed tightly. Transferring the medication to another container poses a risk of misuse and may alter its quality; thus, it must be stored in the original container.
