Treatment of hypertension and kidney disease (in patients with type 2 diabetes)
This medication is used for the treatment of hypertension and is particularly helpful in managing kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes who have hypertension. It effectively controls blood pressure to prevent the deterioration of kidney function and improves overall vascular health. Thus, it plays an important role in preventing complications related to hypertension.
It is recommended that this medication be taken orally at a dose of 50 mg once daily at the same time every day, regardless of meals. If treatment effects are insufficient, the dose can be split into two doses per day or increased to a maximum of 100 mg once daily. For patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes, the usual dose is 50 mg once daily, with the potential to increase to 100 mg according to blood pressure. For elderly patients (75 years and older), and those with renal impairment
For children and adolescents aged 6 years or older weighing between 20 kg and 50 kg, the recommended dose is 25 mg once daily, with a maximum increase to 50 mg once daily. For patients weighing over 50 kg
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, and should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. There is a risk of reduced amniotic fluid, potential lung development issues or skeletal malformations in the fetus. Newborns may exhibit conditions such as cranial formation impairment, reduced kidney function, and hypotension, so caution is advised. This drug should not be administered to individuals with known allergies to this medication or its ingredients, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, patients with severe liver dysfunction, individuals with a history of angioedema, or patients with certain genetic disorders. Additionally, patients with moderate to severe impairment in kidney function or diabetes should avoid using this drug in combination with specific medications. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in elderly patients, those with hyperkalemia, liver dysfunction, heart valve disease, and patients with reduced blood volume. While this medication is safe for most patients, side effects such as dizziness, muscle cramps, back pain, upper respiratory infections, etc., may occur. Rarely, serious side effects such as angioedema, liver dysfunction, muscle damage, severe hypotension, or renal failure may arise, so any unusual symptoms should be discussed with a doctor immediately. This drug may affect liver or kidney function, thus regular blood tests and monitoring of physical condition are essential. Particularly, as hyperkalemia may occur, potassium levels should be regularly checked, and the use of potassium supplements or potassium-containing foods should be avoided. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive agents or specific medications, so inform your healthcare provider if you are taking any other medications. During treatment, be cautious of symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness when driving or operating machinery, and the dosing increase should be monitored and done cautiously. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid the use of this medication, and in unavoidable situations, appropriate measures should be taken after consulting with healthcare professionals. It is recommended that children under 6 years of age or children with severely impaired kidney function do not use this medication. In cases of overdose, hypotension and bradycardia may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and not transferred to other containers for safety.
