This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia caused by hypertension and stable angina as well as variant angina. It helps to control blood pressure and ensures proper blood supply to the heart, thereby improving heart health.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 5 mg orally once daily as amlodipine. If symptoms do not improve within 2 to 4 weeks, the dosage may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg per day based on the patient's response. Adjust as appropriate based on symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients with allergies to this drug or similar components, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with severe heart problems or liver dysfunction should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with genetic issues such as lactase deficiency should also avoid this medication. Patients with severe kidney disease or liver dysfunction, the elderly, and those with heart failure should use this medication cautiously. Particularly, patients with weak heart function or diabetes need to be especially careful. When taking this medication, side effects such as flushing, fatigue, swelling, dizziness, headache, indigestion, and drowsiness may occur. Abruptly stopping this medication can worsen symptoms, so it should be tapered off gradually according to a physician's guidance. This medication may interact with other blood pressure medications or specific antibiotics, antidepressants, and grapefruit juice, so it is essential to inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking. If pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advisable to avoid taking this medication as safety has not been established, and if breastfeeding, it is recommended to cease breastfeeding. This medication is not recommended for children as its safety and efficacy have not been confirmed. Elderly patients may experience higher concentrations of the drug in their bodies, so it is advised to start at a lower dose and monitor their condition. In the case of overdose, severe hypotension, shock, or consciousness disorders may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment.
