This medication should not be used by individuals who are allergic to terbinafine or any other ingredients in this medication or have a history of hypersensitivity. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should avoid using this medication. Particularly, nursing mothers should discontinue breastfeeding, as the medication may be excreted in breast milk. It should not be used in infants and children as the safety and efficacy of this medication have not been sufficiently proven. While using this medication, side effects such as urticaria, redness, erythema, itching, irritation, contact dermatitis, skin peeling, stinging pain, and burning sensation may occur. If these symptoms arise, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. If excessive irritation is felt or symptoms worsen, it is important to stop use and consult a professional. Do not use occlusive dressings or wrappings without the direction of a physician, and if there is no response to this medication, tests should be done to identify other infectious agents. In the case of liquid formulations, caution is needed when using on infants or mucous membranes as they may contain alcohol components such as ethanol. It is advisable to avoid using acid soaps in case of Candida infections, as they may promote fungal growth, especially in cream formulations. When used on intact skin, systemic absorption is minimal, however, caution should be exercised when used on open wounds or large areas, particularly in infants, as systemic effects may occur. This medication is for external use only and should not come into contact with the eyes. If it accidentally gets into the eyes, it should be thoroughly rinsed with copious amounts of water. Avoid use on nails, scalp, perioral areas, and vulvar regions, and be particularly cautious when using on areas that are cracked or raw. Keep out of reach of children in a safe place. Lastly, some photosensitivity has been reported in animal testing with the cream formulation, so it is advisable to avoid sun exposure when using it.
