This medication is used for the treatment of male and female pattern hair loss, also known as androgenetic alopecia. It is available in 2%, 3%, and 5% concentrations, and helps to inhibit hair loss progression and promote hair growth. Regular use of this medication is effective in alleviating hair loss symptoms and maintaining healthy hair.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

(Gel) After fully drying the hair and scalp, apply 0.5 to 1 g of this medication twice daily (morning and evening) for at least 4 months, only to the affected area. Precautions

This medication is not recommended for women using the 5% concentration product. Individuals under 18 years of age should not use this medication. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not use the 2% or 3% products. Individuals with known allergies or hypersensitivity to this drug or its components should avoid using it. Patients with heart or vascular problems, for example, coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, heart failure, heart valve disease, hypertension, or hypotension, should not use this medication. For those with hair loss that is not genetic, this medication is ineffective and should not be used. In cases of sudden partial hair loss, this medication should also not be used. Avoid using this medication if there are any abnormalities on the scalp, such as inflammation, infection, irritation, psoriasis, or sunburn. Patients with unknown causes of hair loss should refrain from using this medication. It is safe not to use this medication in combination with other topical scalp medications or if the scalp is shaved. Patients who were not tolerant to the 2% product should not use the 5% product. Patients with postpartum hair loss should avoid using the 2% or 3% products. Patients with a history of myocardial infarction are advised not to use this medication. Do not use this medication concurrently with topical corticosteroids, retinoids, petrolatum, or anthralin, and patients taking vasodilators should be cautious due to the risk of orthostatic hypotension. Individuals over 55 years of age should consult a specialist before use because the safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for this age group. Patients with edema or thyroid function abnormalities should also consult a specialist before use. If any unusual symptoms such as itching, rash, inflammation, or worsening of hair loss occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur, so caution is needed. If any heart-related symptoms, such as chest pain, changes in blood pressure, or palpitations occur, inform a specialist immediately. Respiratory symptoms or autonomic nervous system abnormalities, as well as central nervous system symptoms, may also occur, requiring caution. Liver or kidney function abnormalities may rarely occur, so if any signs arise, consultation is necessary. This medication can affect the body if excessively absorbed, so it is crucial to consult a specialist before use. If a dose is missed, do not compensate; continue with the next scheduled dose normally. This medication is ineffective for hair loss due to specific causes, so identification of the cause before use is recommended. Severe side effects may occur with overuse, so the recommended dosage must be strictly followed, and in the case of serious symptoms, immediate consultation with a specialist is required. This drug is to be used only on the scalp and not on other areas, and it is recommended not to use occlusive dressings. Avoid contact with the eyes or sensitive areas, and if contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water. After use, hands should be washed thoroughly, and hairstyling products should be applied only after this medication has completely dried. To ensure air circulation on the scalp, it is advisable to avoid the use of hair dryers. This medication is flammable, so it should not be used or stored near flames or heat sources, and must be kept out of reach of children in its original sealed container.

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not use this medication with other scalp medications, topical corticosteroids, retinoids, petrolatum, anthralin, or medications that promote percutaneous absorption. It is also not advisable to use it with the vasodilator guanethidine.

Storage

This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a light-blocking container. Additionally, to maintain its effectiveness, it is important to store it at a temperature between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
