Relief of diabetic polyneuropathy
This medication is used to relieve symptoms caused by diabetic polyneuropathy. It helps to reduce pain or sensory disturbances due to nerve damage, thereby improving the patient's quality of life. With consistent use, it positively influences nerve function recovery. Therefore, this drug is used to effectively treat symptoms of nerve damage caused by diabetes.
Adults: Take 600 milligrams of thioctic acid once daily with plenty of water, approximately 30 minutes before breakfast.
This drug contains alpha-lipoic acid, so individuals with allergies to this ingredient or other excipients contained in the drug should avoid taking it. In addition, there is no clinical data for this drug targeting children and adolescents, so it should not be administered to children or adolescents. During treatment, digestive symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur rarely, as well as allergic reactions such as skin rashes, hives, and itching. It may also cause a drop in blood sugar, leading to hypoglycemic symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, headache, and visual disturbances, so caution is needed. Occasionally, disturbances in taste have been reported, so please keep this in mind. It is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption during the use of this drug. Alcohol can worsen nerve damage and interfere with the therapeutic effect of the medication. This drug may diminish the effectiveness of the specific anticancer drug cisplatin, and taking it with preparations containing metals such as iron or magnesium or milk may hinder the absorption of the drug, so it is better not to take them together. If this drug is taken before breakfast, it is safer to take iron or magnesium supplements at lunch or dinner. When taking this drug together with insulin or other diabetes medications, the blood glucose-lowering effect may be enhanced, so blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently, and dosage adjustments may be necessary if hypoglycemic symptoms arise. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult with a doctor before taking this drug, due to insufficient information on its effects on the fetus or newborn. In case of overdose, severe toxicity symptoms such as altered consciousness, generalized seizures, lactic acidosis, etc., may appear, so if suspected, professional treatment should be sought immediately. This drug should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius and must be kept in a safe place out of reach of children. Also, transferring the drug to a different container from its original container should be avoided, as it can cause degradation in quality or accidents.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This drug may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it should be stored in a tightly sealed container. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature. Storing it this way can help maintain the drug's efficacy and safety for a long time.
