Precautions

This medicine should not be used in patients who are allergic to α-lipoic acid or other excipients. Additionally, due to insufficient clinical experience regarding safety and efficacy in children and adolescents, it should not be administered to patients in this age group. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur rarely. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, hives, and itching may also occur infrequently, so caution is advised. Furthermore, it may lower blood sugar, which can result in hypoglycemic symptoms like dizziness, sweating, headaches, and visual disturbances, so patients requiring blood sugar control should be cautious. Taste disturbances have also been reported rarely. Patients with diabetic neuropathy should avoid alcohol consumption, as it may worsen nerve damage, even during breaks from treatment. This medication may reduce the efficacy of certain anticancer drugs, so caution is needed when taking them together. Also, taking it with iron or magnesium supplements, milk, or calcium-containing foods may interfere with absorption, so timing of administration should be adjusted. When used with insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents, the blood sugar-lowering effect may be increased, so blood sugar should be checked frequently and medication doses adjusted if necessary. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consider the benefits and risks of this medication carefully and take it under medical advice. In case of overdose, serious toxic symptoms may occur, so one should immediately visit a hospital for appropriate treatment. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, and should be kept in a safe place out of reach of children. Additionally, transferring it to another container can cause deterioration in quality or accidents, so caution is necessary.
