This medication is used for chronic polyarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as joint diseases such as osteoarthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. It also helps alleviate pain, swelling, and inflammation that occur after trauma or surgery. Additionally, it is used as an adjunct in the treatment of infections accompanied by inflammation, pain, and fever. It is effective in improving various symptoms related to inflammation and pain.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 300 mg of dexibuprofen orally 2 to 4 times a day. However, do not exceed 1,200 mg of dexibuprofen in a single day.

Precautions

This medication should be used with caution in individuals who regularly consume more than 3 glasses of alcohol daily. Consulting with a doctor or pharmacist before use is essential because taking this drug with alcohol may cause gastrointestinal bleeding. This medication may increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Individuals with cardiovascular disease or risk factors should exercise particular caution due to potential serious thrombotic events such as myocardial infarction and stroke. This medication may cause serious gastrointestinal side effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforation. Patients, especially the elderly or those with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, should be more cautious, and any unusual symptoms during use should prompt immediate consultation with a physician. Those with certain conditions such as gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding, severe blood abnormalities, liver disorders, kidney disorders, heart failure, hypertension, etc., should not take this medication. It is advisable to avoid taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs concurrently with this medication, as serious gastrointestinal side effects or decreased efficacy may occur. Pregnant women over 6 months should not take this medication, and those who are nursing should also be cautious, as this drug can be transferred to breast milk and may cause adverse reactions in infants. Dizziness or fatigue may occur during use, so caution is advised while driving or operating machinery. Long-term high-dose use may lead to headaches. Individuals with blood abnormalities, liver or kidney diseases, hypertension, heart failure, or a history of hypersensitivity should consult with healthcare providers before use. There are several medications that may interact with this drug; therefore, patients should inform healthcare providers of any medications they are currently taking. Should serious adverse reactions such as shock, severe skin rash, liver dysfunction, severe gastrointestinal symptoms, or difficulty breathing occur during use, the medication should be immediately discontinued, and medical advice sought. This medication should be used at the minimum effective dose for the shortest period necessary, and regular blood tests and assessments of liver and kidney function are important for monitoring. Particularly after 20 weeks of pregnancy, this medication may affect fetal kidney function, so it should only be used at the minimum effective dose for a short duration when necessary, with amniotic fluid status monitored via ultrasound. In the event of an overdose, even if there are no symptoms, immediate medical attention should be sought, and measures such as gastric lavage or inducing vomiting may be necessary. Keep this medication out of reach of children, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and ensure it is tightly closed in an airtight container. Avoid transferring to other containers.

Interactions

Drug interactions

This medication should not be taken with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin, or high doses of methotrexate. Additionally, corticosteroids, alcohol, digoxin, phenytoin, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, sulfonylureas, ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists, diuretics, lithium, coumarin anticoagulants (such as warfarin), baclofen, and immunosuppressants (such as cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus) may also interact with this medication.
