This medication is used as an adjunct for short-term in patients with initial obesity who have difficulty losing weight through appropriate diet or exercise therapy, particularly in those with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater, or a BMI of 27 or more with risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia. It should be used together with a basic weight loss regimen including exercise, behavioral modification, and calorie restriction, and must be used alone without combining with other appetite suppressants for effectiveness. The treatment goal is to improve health risk factors through weight loss. It is important to use this medicine according to a tailored treatment plan by a healthcare professional.
