Precautions

This medication is an imidazole class antifungal used to treat fungal infections of the skin. It should not be used by individuals who are allergic to this drug or its ingredients or have had a hypersensitivity reaction to imidazole antifungals. Do not apply to mucous membranes such as eyes, nose, and mouth, nor to severe wounds, inflamed areas, or severely damaged skin. Additionally, this medication should not be used for ophthalmic purposes; caution should be taken to avoid direct contact with the eyes. Women who are pregnant, possibly pregnant, or nursing should consult with a physician or pharmacist before using this medication. Although the concentration in the bloodstream remains very low even when applied in large amounts, safety has not been fully confirmed. Therefore, it should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional when the benefits exceed the risks. If skin redness, stinging, itching, or peeling occurs during use, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. Also, if any unusual symptoms not previously experienced arise, or rarely skin discoloration or cracking occurs, inform a healthcare provider. Drug toxicity is unlikely given the concentration and method of use of this medication; however, if ingested accidentally, appropriate emergency treatment should be sought. A mild skin rash may temporarily appear during the initial treatment; this is usually not serious and does not require discontinuation of treatment. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and must be kept in its original container as transferring to another container may degrade the quality or risk misuse, thus it should be tightly sealed and stored in the original container.
