This medication helps improve eye inflammation associated with dry keratoconjunctivitis by increasing tear production in patients whose tear production is suppressed.

How to apply drops

Adult eye dose

Instill 1 drop of this medicine into each eye twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. Before use, turn the bottle upside down and mix it so that the contents form a uniform, opaque white suspension. If this medicine is used at the same time as artificial tears, administer them 15 minutes apart. Discard any remaining liquid and the container after use.

Precautions

This medication should be used with caution in patients with a history of herpes simplex keratitis as sufficient studies have not been conducted. Since tear production may not increase, patients using topical anti-inflammatory agents or punctal plugs may experience different effects. Patients with active eye infections or hypersensitivity to any component of this medication should not use it. The most common side effects include a burning sensation in the eye, conjunctival injection, discharge, eye pain, foreign body sensation, itching, and visual disturbances. Rarely, serious hypersensitivity reactions such as eye swelling, angioedema, facial swelling, tongue swelling, pharyngeal swelling, and difficulty breathing may occur, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. Care should be taken to avoid the tip of the container coming into contact with the eye or other surfaces, and because temporary blurred vision may occur after application, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Its safety during pregnancy has not been sufficiently established; therefore, it should be used cautiously only when necessary, and breastfeeding women should also exercise caution. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children under 16 years of age, and its use is not recommended. After opening, use immediately and discard any remaining solution; make sure the tip does not touch the eye or any other surface to prevent contamination. Do not use this medication while wearing contact lenses; remove lenses before application and they can be reinserted at least 15 minutes after administration. Store this medication out of the reach of children and discard any expired medication. While some animals have shown a tendency to develop cancer with systemic administration, the local dosage of this medication is very low, and its impact on humans is expected to be minimal. This medication is known to have a low risk of genotoxicity or infertility, but it is important to consult a professional immediately if any abnormal reactions or suspected symptoms arise.
