Precautions

This medication contains the ingredient α-lipoic acid, and should not be taken if you are allergic to this ingredient or other excipients in the drug. Additionally, there is insufficient clinical experience regarding the safety and efficacy of this drug in children and adolescents, so it should not be used in individuals under 18. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may rarely occur, and allergic reactions such as rashes, hives, or itching may also arise. Furthermore, there is a rare risk of hypoglycemic-like symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, headache, and visual disturbances due to low blood sugar, so caution is advised. Taste disturbances leading to anomalies in flavor have also been reported rarely. It is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication. In particular, patients with diabetic polyneuropathy should refrain from drinking alcohol as it may exacerbate nerve symptoms and interfere with treatment efficacy. This medication may decrease the effectiveness of the specific chemotherapeutic agent cisplatin, so caution is required if taken together. Additionally, when taken simultaneously with iron or magnesium supplements, or foods containing calcium such as milk, the absorption of the drug in the body may be impaired, so it is recommended to take this medication 30 minutes before meals and take iron or magnesium supplements separately at mealtime. Diabetic patients should monitor their blood sugar levels frequently while taking this medication as the effects of insulin or other hypoglycemic agents may be enhanced, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia, necessitating adjustment of the medication dosage as needed. Pregnant or nursing women should use this medication cautiously after consulting with a doctor as its safety has not been fully established. In the case of overdose, severe poisoning symptoms may occur, including drowsiness, generalized convulsions, hypoglycemia, and shock. In such cases, immediate medical attention is required, and self-induced vomiting, gastric lavage, or administration of adsorbent may be necessary. Finally, this medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius and should be kept in a safe place out of reach of children. Transferring this medication from its original container to another container can adversely affect its quality, so care should be taken.
