This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia caused by hypertension and stable angina as well as variant angina due to narrowing of coronary arteries or temporary constriction of blood vessels.

How to take

Adult dose

For Amlodipine, administer 5 mg orally once daily, and if symptoms do not improve within 2 to 4 weeks, the dosage may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg per day according to the patient's response. Adjust dosage appropriately based on symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who are allergic to this drug or similar components, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and patients with severe heart problems or liver dysfunction should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with severely impaired kidney function, elderly patients, acute heart failure patients, and those with mildly impaired liver function should use this medication with caution. In such cases, the physician must closely monitor the patient’s condition during administration. Taking this medication may cause flushing or a feeling of heat, as well as symptoms like fatigue, swelling of the ankles, dizziness, headache, and indigestion. Rarely, it may lead to excessively low blood pressure, allergic reactions, skin rashes, or liver dysfunction; thus, any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. Sudden discontinuation of this medication may worsen symptoms, so do not stop taking it without a doctor's instruction. Patients with heart failure or poor liver function must be particularly cautious. Take this medication with plenty of water, and as there may be dizziness or drowsiness, be careful when driving or operating hazardous machinery. This medication may interact with several other drugs, so if you are taking other medications, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. Especially, consuming grapefruit juice may enhance the drug's effects, so it is advisable to avoid this combination. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are recommended not to use this medication, and safety for children has not been established. Elderly patients may experience stronger effects from this medication, so treatment should begin at a low dose while monitoring their condition. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or heart problems, coma, etc., may occur, so seek appropriate medical attention immediately. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.

Storage
