Improvement of symptoms and urinary flow in benign prostatic hyperplasia, reduction of the need for surgery
This medication improves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia and reduces the enlarged prostate, facilitating urine flow. It also decreases the frequency of acute urinary retention, preventing sudden urinary issues. This medication helps reduce the need for prostate surgery. Therefore, it is used to alleviate prostate-related discomfort and relieve symptoms without surgery.
Finasteride should be taken orally at a dose of 5 mg once daily, regardless of meals. Even if symptoms improve after administration, a minimum treatment duration of 6 months is necessary.
This medication should not be used by children or women. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should be careful not to touch broken pieces of this medication. This is because it contains active ingredients that can affect male fetuses. Elderly patients can use this medication without special dose adjustments, but precautions are necessary depending on their condition. This medication lowers prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, so be sure to consider this when interpreting test results.
