This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken orally once a day and should be administered at the same time each day. If necessary, it can be taken twice a day. Dosage escalation method: First week (days 1-7): administer 5 mg once daily for 7 days. Second week (days 8-14): administer 10 mg once daily for 7 days. Third week (days 15-21): administer 15 mg once daily for 7 days. From the fourth week onwards: administer 20 mg once daily. The maintenance dose is once a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its ingredients, severe liver disease, or severe kidney disease. Additionally, it contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or specific genetic metabolic disorders should not take it. Patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, as well as those taking certain NMDA antagonists, may have an increased risk of side effects and should use it with caution. Patients with conditions that can increase urine pH or those with recent myocardial infarction, heart failure, or uncontrolled hypertension should also be careful. Dizziness, headaches, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension are potential side effects; if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. This medication may interact with others, especially when taken with NMDA antagonists, antipsychotic medications, skeletal muscle relaxants, or anticoagulants. Overdose may lead to symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, hallucinations, and seizures; in such cases, seek medical attention immediately. Lastly, keep this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to other containers for safety.
