Precautions

This medication is made from α-lipoic acid. First, individuals who are allergic to this medication or show hypersensitivity to the excipients should not use it. Additionally, it is not administered to children and adolescents, as safety has not been sufficiently established. During use, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may rarely occur. Allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, and itching have also been reported rarely. This medication can lower blood sugar levels, so symptoms of hypoglycemia such as dizziness, sweating, headaches, and visual disturbances may occur, necessitating caution. Additionally, changes in taste or taste disturbances may occur rarely. Individuals who frequently consume alcohol may have an increased risk of nerve damage, so it is important to avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication. Patients with diabetic neuropathy should refrain from alcohol during both the treatment and drug-free periods. Taking this medication with formulations containing certain metal components or milk may interfere with absorption due to binding in the body, therefore, iron or magnesium supplements should be taken 30 minutes after this medication with meals. Moreover, taking it with insulin or other diabetes medications may enhance the hypoglycemic effect, thus, blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently, and dosage adjustments may be necessary if needed. Pregnant or nursing women should consider the benefits and risks under a physician's judgment, as safety has not been sufficiently established for this medication. In case of overdose, serious toxic symptoms may occur, including confusion, seizures, hypoglycemia, and multi-organ dysfunction. In such cases, immediate medical attention should be sought. Finally, this medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees, and must be kept in a safe place out of reach of children. Also, transferring it to another container can pose a risk of deterioration in quality or accidents, so caution is needed.
