Improvement of hypertension and myocardial ischemia (stable angina, variant angina)
This medication is used to treat hypertension and myocardial ischemia caused by stable angina due to fixed occlusion of coronary arteries, as well as variant angina due to vasospasm of coronary vessels.
Adults: Administer 5 mg orally once a day as amlodipine, and if symptoms do not improve within 2 to 4 weeks, the dosage may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg per day depending on the patient's response. Increase or decrease the dosage appropriately based on symptoms.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals allergic to this drug or similar components, pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with severe heart problems or liver dysfunction should avoid using it. Additionally, caution is needed when administering this drug to patients with very poor kidney function, elderly patients, or those with heart failure. In such cases, it should be used carefully according to a doctor's instructions. Taking this medication may cause flushing and a sensation of warmth, as well as fatigue, swelling, palpitations, dizziness, headache, indigestion, and drowsiness. Rarely, symptoms such as skin rash, allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, and blood abnormalities may occur, so if any unusual symptoms appear, consult a healthcare provider immediately. Abrupt discontinuation of this medication can worsen symptoms, so when stopping use, it should be done gradually under a doctor's guidance. Additionally, this medication should be taken with plenty of water, and caution is advised when driving or operating dangerous machinery, as dizziness or drowsiness may occur during use. When taking other medications simultaneously, interactions may occur; therefore, it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist about any currently taken medications. In particular, grapefruit juice may significantly enhance the effect of this drug, so it is advisable not to consume it together. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or heart problems may occur, requiring immediate medical attention.
