Improvement of myocardial ischemia caused by hypertension and coronary artery disease (stable angina, variant angina)
This medication is used for patients with hypertension and angina due to narrowed coronary arteries or temporary vascular constriction leading to reduced blood supply to the heart muscle. It helps to manage hypertension, reducing the burden on the heart and alleviating angina symptoms. It is effective for both stable and variant angina and improves myocardial ischemic conditions. By doing so, it helps to maintain heart health and lowers the risk of complications.
Adults: Amlodipine 5 mg orally once daily. If symptoms do not improve within 2 to 4 weeks, the dose may be increased up to a maximum of 10 mg daily based on the patient's response. Adjust appropriately based on symptoms.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, individuals who have had an allergy to this drug or any of its components, pregnant or potentially pregnant women, and those who are breastfeeding should not take this medication. Patients in shock with severely impaired heart function, those with severe problems with heart valves, patients with unstable angina, individuals who have had a recent myocardial infarction, and patients with severe liver dysfunction or hypotension should not use this medication. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, the elderly, those with acute heart failure, patients whose blood pressures suddenly spike, and those with mildly to moderately impaired liver function should use caution when taking this medication. When taking this medication, skin redness or warmth may occur, along with fatigue or swelling. Fast heartbeat, dizziness, headaches, indigestion, and drowsiness may also be experienced. Rarely, dry mouth or increased sweating may occur, and there is a risk of blood pressure dropping too low or fainting. If a rash or allergic reaction occurs, use should be discontinued immediately. This medication should not be stopped suddenly as this may worsen symptoms; instead, the dosage should be gradually reduced under medical guidance. Take with plenty of water and be cautious when driving or operating dangerous machinery, as dizziness or drowsiness may occur. Also, this medication may interact with other antihypertensives, certain antibiotics, diuretics, and other medications, so inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid this medication as its safety has not been established. Elderly patients may have slower drug metabolism, so they should start with a lower dose and monitor their condition. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or cardiac abnormalities may occur; immediate medical attention is necessary.
