  • Pain from cystitis and urethritis
View approved original text

This medication provides comfort to both males and females during cystoscopy, catheter placement, and urethral surgeries through surface anesthesia and lubrication. It also reduces pain in the nasal and pharyngeal areas during endoscopic examinations such as gastroscopy or bronchoscopy, and is used during rectoscopy or intubation. Additionally, it helps alleviate pain caused by cystitis and urethritis, easing patients' discomfort. This efficacy effectively supports the treatment and management of various endoscopic examinations and urethral related conditions.

How to use

Adult use

1. Urethral Anesthesia 1) Surface anesthesia of the male urethra: Administer 20 mL (400 mg as lidocaine hydrochloride) by injecting 10 mL (200 mg as lidocaine hydrochloride) of this medication slowly, applying a penile clamp to the corona for several minutes before injecting the remaining medication. Precautions

This medication is an amide local anesthetic and should not be used in patients who are allergic to it or similar drugs. It should be used cautiously in patients with wounds or infections at the application site, epilepsy, cardiac conduction abnormalities or bradycardia, impaired liver function, and those in severe shock. Due to the presence of propylene glycol in this medication, caution is also required in patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to this ingredient. During use, symptoms of shock may appear, so it is important to closely monitor for symptoms like hypotension, facial pallor, pulse abnormalities, or respiratory depression. If such abnormalities are detected, use should be immediately discontinued and appropriate treatment sought. It may affect the central nervous system, leading to symptoms such as tremors or seizures; if these symptoms occur, use should be stopped immediately, and professional treatment should be sought. Symptoms such as drowsiness, anxiety, dizziness, nausea, nervousness, and altered consciousness may also occur, so the patient's condition should be observed carefully. It can affect the heart, potentially causing hypotension, bradycardia, or cardiac arrest, so patients with heart conditions should be particularly cautious. Allergic reactions such as hives or swelling may occur on the skin, so the condition of the skin should be monitored closely. When using local anesthetics, it is advisable to be prepared for emergency situations and to have immediate emergency treatment available. It is not possible to completely prevent side effects; therefore, the overall condition of the patient should be meticulously checked, and only the minimum necessary dosage should be used for safety. When applying surface anesthesia in the airway, absorption is rapid, increasing the risk of side effects, so small amounts should be used. When applying this medication in the mouth, caution is needed especially in children, as swallowing function may be impaired, increasing the risk of food entering the airway. If the tongue or mucous membranes in the mouth become numb, there is a risk of biting or injuring them; therefore, caution is necessary. During endotracheal intubation, care should be taken to prevent the medication from entering the tube, as this could block the tube. Excessive administration in the rectum can lead to systemic absorption and central nervous system side effects, so special caution should be exercised in children. This medication may exacerbate side effects when used with specific antiarrhythmic agents, thus caution is necessary when administered concomitantly. Women who are pregnant or potentially pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety during pregnancy has not been fully established. This medication is transmitted in small amounts through breast milk; however, it is known not to pose significant risks to the infant at typical therapeutic doses.
