This medication is used to improve the symptoms of constipation.

How to take

Adult dose

As polyethylene glycol 3350, take 17 g per day dissolved in approximately 240 mL of water, juice, soda, coffee, tea, etc., preferably in the morning.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with moderate inflammatory bowel disease, those at risk of bowel perforation, patients suspected of having bowel obstruction, and patients with unexplained abdominal pain. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing mothers, patients with kidney disease, patients with irritable bowel syndrome, patients experiencing sudden changes in bowel habits lasting more than 2 weeks, patients on sodium or potassium-restricted diets, and children and adolescents must consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. If symptoms such as nausea, abdominal bloating, cramping, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, rectal bleeding, severe allergic reactions or hives, rashes, itching, or swelling occur while taking this medication, you should immediately stop taking it and consult a professional. Particularly in the elderly, overdose may lead to diarrhea and vomiting, so caution is needed, and if symptoms do not improve within one week of the first dose, you should consult a professional. This medication is not recommended for long-term use for the treatment of constipation, and it is important to combine it with a healthy diet and exercise. When taken with other medications, the absorption of the other medications may be reduced or delayed, so a minimum interval of 2 hours should be maintained. Long-term or excessive use may lead to electrolyte imbalances or drug dependence, so caution is advised. This medication does not affect driving or operating machinery. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container for safety.
