Relief of diabetic polyneuropathy
This medication is used to alleviate the symptoms of polyneuropathy caused by diabetes. It helps improve pain and sensory abnormalities due to neuropathy, enhancing the quality of life for patients.
Adults: Take 600 milligrams of thioctic acid once daily with plenty of water, approximately 30 minutes before breakfast.
This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to α-lipoic acid or any excipients contained in this product. Additionally, there is insufficient clinical trial data for this medication in children and adolescents, so it should not be administered to patients in this age group. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occasionally occur, so caution is advised. Allergic reactions such as rashes, hives, and itching may rarely occur, and if such symptoms appear, medical consultation should be sought immediately. This medication can lower blood sugar levels, so symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as dizziness, sweating, headache, and changes in vision, may occur, necessitating caution. Disturbances in taste have been reported rarely, so patients should be informed if they experience changes in taste. Frequent alcohol consumption may reduce the therapeutic effect of this medication, so it is particularly advisable for patients with diabetic neuropathy to avoid alcohol intake. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of a specific anticancer drug, cisplatin, so caution is needed if taken together. Do not take this medication simultaneously with metal compounds such as iron, magnesium preparations, or calcium-containing milk, and it is advisable to take this medication 30 minutes before meals, with metal preparations after meals. When taken in conjunction with insulin or oral diabetes medications, the blood sugar-lowering effect may increase, thus blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. If pregnant or nursing, the use of this medication should be carefully decided in consultation with a physician, and its effects on the fetus in early pregnancy are unclear. Severe poisoning symptoms may occur in case of overdose, so if suspected, immediate hospital visit and appropriate treatment should be sought. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees and should be kept in a safe place out of the reach of children. Additionally, transferring the medication from its original container to another is not recommended as it may compromise the quality and safety of the product.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it should be stored in a sealed container. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius, as this helps preserve the medication's efficacy and safety.
