Precautions

This medication is used for the purpose of treating erectile dysfunction. It may put strain on the heart during sexual activity, thus a doctor should thoroughly check the patient's cardiovascular status before starting therapy. It is safest not to use this medication in patients with cardiovascular diseases or those for whom sexual activity is not recommended. Moreover, patients with certain heart diseases or severely impaired blood pressure control may respond sensitively to this medication. Since this medication acts by dilating blood vessels, taking it with nitrates or drugs containing nitric oxide can lead to excessively low blood pressure, hence they must never be combined. If an erection lasts more than 4 hours, immediate medical attention should be sought, as failure to treat may lead to penile tissue damage and loss of erectile ability, necessitating caution. Individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication, certain genetic disorders, recent myocardial infarction or stroke, severe blood pressure abnormalities, or severely impaired liver or kidney function should not take this medication. Occasionally, side effects such as flushing of the face, headache, dizziness, indigestion may occur, but they are mostly transient and mild. Caution is advised while driving or operating machinery as dizziness or visual disturbances may occur. This medication should not be used by pregnant women or children, and there is no need for special dosage adjustments for the elderly. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include headache or facial flushing, which typically resolve on their own, but in severe cases, appropriate medical treatment may be required. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and it is advisable to keep it in its original packaging. Before taking this medication, it is essential to consult with healthcare professionals about your health status and possible interactions with other medications, especially if cardiovascular disease is present.
