Adult dose
Administration: This medicine may be administered with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with plenty of water. 1. Hypertension Most patients receive 4 milligrams once daily. It may take up to 4 weeks to achieve the optimal effect of this medicine. After 4 weeks of treatment, the dose may be increased to 8 milligrams once daily, according to the patient's response. The maximum recommended daily dose is 8 milligrams. This medicine may be used as monotherapy to control blood pressure. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy, this medicine may be used in combination with a diuretic, beta-blocker, calcium antagonist, or ACE inhibitor. 2. Urinary retention and voiding disorders due to benign prostatic hyperplasia Most patients receive 4 milligrams once daily. The dose may be increased to 8 milligrams once daily according to the patient's response. The maximum recommended daily dose is 8 milligrams. This medicine may be used in patients with prostatic hyperplasia, whether or not they have hypertension. Patients with both hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia may be treated for both conditions with monotherapy. As with other medicines of this type, patient monitoring is recommended at the start of treatment. There are no studies demonstrating that increasing the dose to 8 milligrams increases efficacy. Elderly patients: The usual dose is recommended. Patients with renal impairment: The pharmacokinetics of doxazosin are unchanged in patients with impaired renal function, and there is no evidence that doxazosin worsens renal impairment. Therefore, the usual dose may be administered to these patients. There are no specific restrictions on the duration of use.

Precautions

This medication must be swallowed whole and should never be chewed, divided, or crushed. It should not be administered to patients with allergies to this drug, or those with hypotension, intestinal obstruction, esophageal obstruction, gastrointestinal strictures, urethral problems associated with prostatic hyperplasia, overactive bladder, anuria, or progressive renal failure. Close monitoring is required for patients with acute heart disease or impaired liver function, and caution is necessary for those with specific heart diseases. While taking this medication, various side effects such as dizziness, headache, hypotension, nausea, myalgia, cough, itching, and urination problems may occur, and any unusual symptoms should prompt immediate consultation with a physician. Particularly at the beginning of treatment, dizziness or fainting may occur due to orthostatic hypotension, so it is important to rise slowly and learn proper responses to any symptoms that arise. There is a risk of increased hypotension when taken with certain erectile dysfunction treatments, so caution is required when used in combination. Patients with weakened liver function should be especially cautious when using this medication, and those with severe digestive issues should also exercise caution. Patients facing cataract surgery should inform their ophthalmologist about their current or past use of this medication prior to the operation. Although the tablets may be expelled whole, this is an indication that the medication is functioning properly, so there is no need for concern. Women who are pregnant or nursing should only use this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks as determined by a physician, since its safety has not been established. Due to insufficient safety data, the use of this medication in children is not recommended. Elderly patients are at a higher risk for side effects such as hypotension, so they should take special care when using this medication. In the early stages of taking this medication, it is advisable to avoid tasks that require concentration, such as driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, the patient should be laid down with their head lowered and appropriate emergency treatment should be sought. Keep this medication out of reach of children and avoid transferring it to another container.
