How to take

Adult dose

As alendronic acid, take 70 mg once a week in the morning with a sufficient amount of water at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking other medications. This medication should be taken immediately after getting up in the morning and should not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it until eating the first meal of the day. Do not take two tablets on the same day. If you forget to take it on the scheduled day, take 70 mg the next morning.

Precautions

This medication may irritate the stomach and esophagus, so caution is necessary for patients with upper gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, esophagitis, and esophageal ulcers. It is especially recommended that patients who have problems with the esophagus or difficulty swallowing should not take this medication. This medication should be taken sitting or standing with a sufficient amount of water, and one should not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. If symptoms such as chest pain, dysphagia, or heartburn occur while taking this medication, stop taking it immediately and consult a physician. Patients with low calcium levels or severely impaired kidney function, as well as women who are pregnant or nursing, should not use this medication. This medication is used for the treatment of osteoporosis and may rarely cause pain in the bones, muscles, or joints when taken for a long time. Gastrointestinal side effects such as indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, and constipation may also occur, so if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. This medication may interfere with the absorption of calcium supplements or antacids, so at least 30 minutes should be waited between taking them. Patients requiring dental treatment should consult their physician before and after treatment due to the risk of jaw osteonecrosis.
