Precautions

This drug is an alpha-blocker, used to lower blood pressure and relieve urination disorders caused by prostatic hyperplasia. This medication should not be used by patients who are hypersensitive to alpha-blockers or this drug, children under 12 years old, and patients with lactose intolerance or genetic lactose metabolism disorders. Patients with severe liver or kidney function impairment, orthostatic hypotension, heart disease, cerebrovascular disorders, diabetes, and certain other conditions should use this medication with caution. This drug contains the dye Yellow No. 5, so those allergic to this component should be cautious. During treatment, dizziness, fainting, or increased heart rate may occur, so special care should be taken when starting or changing the dosage. This medication may cause dizziness or fainting upon sudden standing due to orthostatic hypotension, so it is advisable to change positions slowly. Before starting treatment when benign prostatic hyperplasia is suspected, prostatic cancer should be ruled out. Patients planning cataract surgery must inform their ophthalmologist about taking this drug, as special precautions may be necessary during surgery. When taken with other antihypertensive medications, the hypotensive effect may be enhanced; thus, consultation with a physician is advised. Women who are pregnant or are of childbearing potential should carefully consider the risks and benefits of taking this medication, and breastfeeding women should avoid taking it or discontinue breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, so it is preferable not to use it in this population. Elderly patients should start with a lower dose to prevent excessively low blood pressure and should use it with caution. In case of overdose, blood pressure may drop sharply, requiring immediate medical attention, and dialysis will not remove this drug. Keep this medication out of reach of children and avoid transferring it to other containers.
