Improvement of gastric ulcers and upper gastrointestinal bleeding (peptic ulcers, etc.)
This medication is used as an oral and injectable form and is effective for various gastrointestinal diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to peptic ulcers, acute stress ulcers, hemorrhagic gastritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It also helps in alleviating gastric mucosal lesions that occur during acute exacerbation of acute and chronic gastritis. As an injectable, it is also used preoperatively, broadening the scope of treatment. Thus, it is effectively used for the treatment and prevention of complex gastrointestinal diseases.
1. Gastric/duodenal ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Administer 20 mg orally twice daily (after breakfast, after dinner, or at bedtime) or 40 mg orally once daily (at bedtime). For upper gastrointestinal bleeding, treatment should initially be initiated with injection, then switched to oral administration once oral administration is feasible. 2. Acute gastritis, acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis:
This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to certain components or those with issues in lactose metabolism. Patients with decreased kidney function, heart disease, liver disease, and the elderly should take particular caution when using this medication. During the use of this drug, symptoms of serious side effects such as allergic reactions, blood disorders, severe skin conditions, liver dysfunction, muscle issues, heart rhythm abnormalities, consciousness changes, renal problems, pneumonia may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored. If side effects are suspected, immediately discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider. During treatment, symptoms should be carefully observed, and only the minimal effective dosage should be used; if no effect is seen, alternative treatment methods should be considered. This medication dissolves in the mouth but is not absorbed through the oral mucosa, so it must be swallowed with water. For patients undergoing hemodialysis, the use of this medication with certain phosphate binders may reduce effectiveness, so caution is needed. The effectiveness of this drug may be reduced when taken with certain antifungal medications or some anticancer drugs, so it is important to inform healthcare providers of any concurrent medications. The elderly may require dosage adjustments due to increased drug concentration in the blood as a result of decreased kidney function. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits of treatment are assessed to outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding women should discontinue breastfeeding as the drug may be excreted into breast milk. Safety in children has not been sufficiently confirmed, so caution is advised. Particularly, the orally disintegrating tablet of this medication should be placed on the tongue and allowed to dissolve in saliva before swallowing; it should not be taken in a lying position without water. Finally, this medication may hide symptoms of gastric cancer, so it should only be used after confirming that it is not gastric cancer.
Shock, hypersensitivity (anaphylaxis, difficulty breathing, generalized flushing, angioedema (facial swelling, pharyngeal edema, etc.), urticaria), pancytopenia, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell's syndrome, liver dysfunction, jaundice, rhabdomyolysis, QT prolongation, ventricular tachycardia (including Torsades de Pointes), ventricular fibrillation, consciousness disturbances, seizures, interstitial nephritis, acute kidney failure, interstitial pneumonia
