Short-term treatment of facial melasma and UV protection
This medication is used for the short-term treatment of moderate to severe facial melasma. It is important to use methods to block sun exposure, such as sunscreen, while undergoing treatment. This helps promote the improvement of symptoms and effectively manage skin health.
Apply once daily in the evening (at least 30 minutes before bed) to the affected area.
This medication contains sodium metabisulfite, which may cause severe allergic reactions or asthma attacks in sensitive individuals. Additionally, the ingredient hydroquinone may cause side effects such as brown spots on the skin, and should be discontinued immediately if these symptoms occur. There is also a possibility of hypersensitivity reactions, so it is advisable to conduct a skin test prior to use. Individuals with allergies to the ingredients of this medication should not use it. Asthma patients and those sensitive to sulfites should exercise caution when using this medication, as severe allergic reactions may occur. While using this medication, side effects such as redness, itching, dryness, and burning sensations on the skin may occur, but they are usually mild to moderate. Because of the topical steroid component included in this medication, thinning of the skin, infections, and pigment changes may rarely occur, so long-term use should be done with caution. Exposure to sunlight can exacerbate skin irritation or side effects, so it is essential to wear sunscreen and protective clothing while avoiding sun exposure. The skin may become very dry, so using a moisturizer after washing the face can be helpful. This medication should not be applied to mucous membranes such as around the eyes, nose, and mouth. If severe irritation or side effects occur, use should be stopped immediately, and consultation with a professional is advised. Overapplication may cause severe redness and peeling of the skin, so only the prescribed amount should be used. This medication should be used strictly according to a doctor's prescription and guidelines and should not be used for other conditions. During use, it is advisable to avoid strong cleansers or products containing alcohol, which can cause irritation. Some ingredients in this medication have limited studies regarding their potential carcinogenicity or genotoxicity, so it is best to avoid prolonged use and exercise caution. It should be avoided during pregnancy as it may harm the fetus, so women of childbearing potential should confirm their pregnancy status before use, and use should be avoided during pregnancy if possible. Nursing women should be cautious as this medication may be secreted in breast milk, ensuring it does not come into contact with the infant. Safety for pediatric use has not been established, so use in children should be approached with caution. Elderly patients may have compromised liver, kidney, and heart functions, so dosage adjustments and careful monitoring are advised when using this medication.
