Precautions

This drug can cause severe colitis, so it should only be used for serious infections that are difficult to treat with other antibiotics. Symptoms of colitis may include severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever; if these occur, treatment should be immediately discontinued or closely monitored as directed by a physician. It is not recommended for non-bacterial upper respiratory infections or mild bacterial infections. This medication does not penetrate well into the cerebrospinal fluid and is not suitable for treating meningitis. When using injections, care should be taken to avoid glass splinter contamination during container cutting, particularly in young children and the elderly. Patients allergic to lincomycin or clindamycin should not use this drug. Caution is advised for elderly or weak patients, those with a history of colitis, impaired liver or kidney function, atopic constitutions, or a history of asthma and allergies. Patients with myasthenia gravis should be cautious as this drug can inhibit muscle contraction and worsen symptoms. Injection may cause pain or numbness at the injection site, and intravenous administration may lead to thrombophlebitis. Gastrointestinal effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, which can progress to pseudomembranous colitis in severe cases. Allergic reactions may present with generalized flushing, hives, difficulty breathing, and if any abnormal symptoms occur, treatment should be immediately discontinued, and emergency care should be sought. Skin may show rashes, itching, and swelling, and severe skin diseases can occur, so close monitoring is necessary. Long-term use may affect liver and kidney function, requiring regular function tests. Rapid intravenous administration should be avoided due to potential cardiovascular effects. Blood disorders may arise, so blood tests should be conducted during prolonged treatment. The combination of this drug with muscle relaxants may enhance muscle relaxant effects. It is safest not to use this drug in pregnant or breastfeeding women, especially during breastfeeding due to potential effects on the newborn. Safety in children and newborns has not been established, so it should be used cautiously if necessary, with regular liver and kidney function tests recommended. The impact on driving or operating machinery is unclear, so caution is advised. In the case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and symptomatic emergency care should be provided; blood dialysis or peritoneal dialysis is not effective for removing the drug. Any remaining medication should be used within 48 hours, and when stored, it should be kept in its original container out of reach of children. When used topically, skin irritation or allergic reactions may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms arise, use should be immediately discontinued, and consultation with a specialist is advised.
