Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease mainly affecting the hip or knee joints, causing pain and restricted movement in the joints. Therefore, this medication is used to relieve joint pain and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis.

How to take

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients with certain diseases. Individuals with inflammatory bowel disease, bowel obstruction syndrome, or unexplained abdominal pain should not take this medication. Additionally, it should be avoided by those allergic to this drug, its components, or related medications. Patients with liver disease or previous liver problems, as well as children under 15 years of age, should also refrain from taking this medication. Since this drug contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders. This medication should be used cautiously in patients with a history of small intestine or colon diseases, pregnant or nursing women, and elderly individuals over 65 years of age. In particular, elderly patients may require a reduced dosage. Taking this medication may lead to gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, loose stools, or abdominal pain. Long-term use can lead to severe issues like gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, or perforation, so caution is needed. If diarrhea worsens, dehydration or electrolyte imbalances may occur; thus, immediate discontinuation and consultation with a physician are advised. Allergic reactions such as itching, rash, or eczema may occur, and elevated liver enzyme levels may be detected through blood tests due to liver dysfunction. If using for an extended period, it is essential to follow a physician's instructions, and if diarrhea occurs, stop taking the medication and seek guidance from a specialist. There is a risk of liver damage, so if any signs of liver dysfunction appear, discontinue use immediately, and it is advisable to limit alcohol intake. This medication may interfere with the absorption of antacids containing calcium, magnesium, or aluminum; therefore, it should be taken at least 2 hours apart. Furthermore, if taken concurrently with diuretics, it may enhance diuretic effects, leading to dehydration or hypokalemia. Caution is needed when taken with cardiac glycosides, as it may increase the risk of arrhythmias, and supervision by a healthcare professional is recommended. Pregnant or nursing women should preferably avoid this medication. Animal studies have reported delays in fetal bone formation, and the medication may be transmitted through breast milk in small amounts.
