Adult administration

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. Patients allergic to this medication or any of its ingredients should not take it. Patients with oxalate nephropathy, Mediterranean anemia, gout, or cystinuria should also refrain from using this medication. Particularly, patients with G6PD deficiency should be cautious as high doses may cause hemolysis. Patients with oxalate stones in the kidneys should not exceed 1 gram per day. Taking this medication may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, abdominal cramps, fatigue, facial flushing, headache, and insomnia. High doses exceeding 1 gram per day can acidify urine and increase the risk of diarrhea or kidney stones. Additionally, taking more than 600 milligrams per day may cause diuretic effects. This medication is generally taken orally, and injections are used only when gastrointestinal absorption is difficult or for the treatment of vitamin C deficiency. Injection may cause temporary pain at the injection site, and if administered rapidly, dizziness or phlebitis may occur, so it should be injected slowly. This medication can interact with other drugs, so caution is needed when used in conjunction with aspirin, iron preparations, certain anticonvulsants, oral contraceptives, etc. During pregnancy, it is recommended not to exceed 1 gram as the safety for the fetus has not been fully confirmed and it should only be used when the benefits outweigh the risks. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, stored in a dry place protected from direct sunlight. Also, transferring the medication from its original container to another may lead to misuse or degradation of quality, so it must be kept in its original container.
