Precautions

This drug is an alpha-blocker that is used to dilate blood vessels, lower blood pressure, and alleviate urinary disorders caused by prostatic enlargement. First, this drug should not be used by patients with allergies to this drug or other alpha-blockers, children under 12 years of age, or patients with lactose intolerance or genetic lactose-related disorders. Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment, history of orthostatic hypotension or cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and those allergic to Yellow No. 4 should use this drug cautiously. Taking this drug may cause dizziness or fainting, particularly when starting treatment or suddenly increasing the dose, so caution is needed. Additionally, various side effects may occur, such as tachycardia, headache, sweating, gastrointestinal disturbances, epistaxis, and urinary abnormalities; if symptoms worsen, consult a doctor. During the initial treatment or when changing the dosage, blood pressure may drop suddenly, leading to dizziness or drowsiness, so it is advisable to avoid hazardous activities such as working at heights or driving. This drug alleviates symptoms associated with prostatic hyperplasia; if symptoms do not improve, other treatment options should be considered. Additionally, since symptoms may be similar to those of prostate cancer, it is essential to confirm the presence of cancer before treatment. Patients scheduled for cataract surgery should inform their healthcare provider about taking this drug as precautions may be needed to prevent issues with the iris during surgery. This drug does not show significant interactions when taken with various other medications; however, caution should be exercised when taken with antihypertensive drugs as blood pressure may drop too low. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of taking this drug, and it is recommended to avoid use or discontinue breastfeeding if currently nursing. This drug is not used in children due to lack of confirmed safety and efficacy. Elderly patients are at risk of excessively low blood pressure; therefore, they should start with a low dose and be closely monitored. In cases of overdose, blood pressure may drop sharply, requiring immediate medical attention; dialysis is ineffective. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
