Prevention of vitamin C deficiency (scurvy) and improvement of capillary bleeding, etc.
This drug is used for the prevention and treatment of acute vitamin C deficiency, known as scurvy. It also aids in conditions where vitamin C requirements are increased, such as during pregnancy or lactation and in cases of severe physical labor. It is effective for capillary bleeding suspected to be due to vitamin C deficiency or metabolic disorders, drug-induced side effects, promotion of bone matrix formation and union during fractures. Furthermore, it positively influences the reduction of melasma, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and photosensitivity dermatitis. This drug is effectively used for vitamin C deficiency and related symptoms.
As ascorbic acid, administer 50-1,000mg daily, divided into 1-3 injections subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously. Adjust as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
As this drug is an injectable ampoule, caution should be taken when cutting the container to prevent glass shards from entering. Extra care is required when administering to children or elderly patients. Patients allergic to any component of this drug or those with specific conditions should not be administered this drug. For example, patients with oxalate nephropathy, Mediterranean anemia, gout, cystinuria, G6PD deficiency, or those with kidney stones should not use this drug. Side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, fatigue, and headaches may occur when administering this drug. Particularly, the risk of diarrhea and kidney stones increases with doses above 1 gram per day, and diuretic effects may appear at doses over 600mg. Caution is advised for patients with G6PD deficiency as hemolysis may occur. Excessive dosing may cause stones in the urinary tract, so proper dosing should be observed. This drug is typically taken orally, but injections should be used only in cases of digestive absorption disorders or acute vitamin C deficiency, and transition to oral administration is recommended whenever possible. There may be interactions with other drugs, so caution should be exercised when used in conjunction with aspirin, iron supplements, certain antibiotics, oral contraceptives, etc. During pregnancy, as fetal safety has not been fully established, it should be used only when absolutely necessary, and high doses should be avoided. This drug may affect test results, so caution is needed during urine glucose tests or hematuria tests. Excessive intake may lead to diarrhea and kidney stones, so if such symptoms occur, administration should be immediately halted and appropriate treatment sought. Injection may cause pain at the injection site, and injection should not be repeated at the same site, avoiding the areas where nerves run. Intravenous injections should be administered slowly to reduce side effects such as vascular pain or dizziness. This drug should be kept away from direct sunlight and stored in a dry place, out of reach of children. Additionally, it should be stored in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality.
