This medication is used for muscle spasms and pain accompanying musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical radiculopathy, adhesive capsulitis, and low back pain. It also helps alleviate muscle spastic paralysis due to neurological disorders and is effective in various brain and spinal cord-related conditions, including cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, sequelae of spinal injury, and cerebral palsy. This drug helps relax muscle tension and reduce pain, improving patients' daily lives. Therefore, it is used to treat muscle rigidity and pain occurring in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.

How to take

Adult dose

Eperisone Hydrochloride: 50 mg orally three times a day after meals. Adjust dosage appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This drug should not be used by certain patients. First, patients who have had an allergic reaction to this drug or patients with myasthenia gravis should not take it. Additionally, this drug contains lactose, so patients with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also avoid taking it. Caution is necessary when using this drug in patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or impaired liver function. It may worsen liver function, so such patients should be administered carefully. During the administration of this drug, severe side effects such as shock, liver dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, and anemia may rarely occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored. Also, various side effects such as rash, itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain have been reported, so if any abnormal symptoms occur, immediately consult a doctor. In particular, symptoms such as toxic epidermal necrolysis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which are serious skin reactions, may develop; therefore, if fever, skin rash, blisters, itching, eye congestion, or stomatitis occur, discontinue the medication and seek immediate treatment. During the administration of this drug, symptoms such as weakness, staggering, and drowsiness may occur; if these symptoms occur, the dosage should be reduced or discontinued. Additionally, drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. If taken with other similar medications, disturbances in vision may occur; therefore, caution is advised when used concurrently. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this drug only when the therapeutic benefit is deemed to outweigh the risks, as safety has not been established. Nursing mothers should avoid this drug if possible; if necessary, cessation of breastfeeding is recommended. Safety in children has not been fully established, so caution is necessary for use. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so when using this drug, the dosage should be reduced or administered cautiously.

Shock, increased ALT, increased AST, increased ALP, proteinuria, increased BUN, anemia, anaphylactic reactions, angioedema, toxic epidermal necrolysis and mucocutaneous eye syndrome (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), fever, erythema, blisters, eye congestion, stomatitis.
