As alendronate, take 70 mg once a week in the morning with a sufficient amount of water (170 to 230 mL) at least 30 minutes before any food, drink, or other medications. After taking the medication, do not lie down for at least 30 minutes and must remain upright until the first intake of food. This medication should not be taken before sleeping or upon waking. Precautions

This medication can irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa, so patients with esophageal disorders or conditions such as gastritis, duodenitis, or ulcers should use it cautiously. If symptoms such as pain in the throat or chest, dysphagia, or heartburn occur while taking the medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. When taking the medication, it should be taken with a sufficient amount of water, and it is important not to lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Particularly, if esophageal irritation symptoms occur and usage continues, serious side effects may occur. This medication should not be used in patients with conditions that delay esophageal emptying, those who cannot sit or stand for more than 30 minutes, patients with hypocalcemia, severe renal impairment, pregnant women or women who could become pregnant, nursing mothers, and individuals with certain genetic diseases. Digestive system symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, constipation, and diarrhea may occur during use, as well as musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and dizziness. This medication may interfere with absorption when taken with calcium supplements or antacids, so it should be taken with a minimum interval of 30 minutes from other medications. Caution should be exercised when taking aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as this may increase the risk of gastrointestinal side effects. Pregnant or nursing women are advised not to take this medication, and safety in children or adolescents under 18 years of age has not been established. Elderly individuals may also use it, but caution should be exercised as some may be more sensitive to the medication. Before taking, be sure to read the product leaflet and follow the doctor's instructions for the correct usage and dosage. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal disturbances or hypocalcemia may occur, so it is essential to visit a medical facility for appropriate treatment immediately. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to another container for safety.
