Precautions

This medication should be used very cautiously in patients with edema or ascites due to cirrhosis, as there is a risk of sudden changes in fluid and electrolyte balance that can lead to hepatic encephalopathy, a severe brain dysfunction. This medication should not be used in certain patients such as children under 12 years, individuals with allergies to this drug, patients with hypotension, and those with severely impaired renal function. Additionally, it should not be administered to pregnant or nursing women, nor to patients with extremely low blood pressure or heart rhythm issues. Blood potassium and sodium levels should be regularly monitored while using this drug, and attention should be paid to dietary potassium intake to prevent deficiency. During treatment, symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, and muscle numbness may occur, and rarely, cardiac issues, blood pressure drop, or gastrointestinal bleeding may arise. This drug can interact with other medications, so it is essential to consult with a physician or pharmacist when taking antihypertensives, antidiabetics, diuretics, antibiotics, heart medications, etc. It is advisable to avoid dangerous activities such as driving or operating machinery during the initial dosing or when switching from another medication to this one, as alcohol consumption can exacerbate symptoms. Elderly patients should start with low doses while using this medication due to a higher risk of dehydration, hypotension, dizziness, and thrombosis, and their condition should be closely monitored.
