Relief of symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, acute exacerbations of osteoarthritis (short-term), and ankylosing spondylitis
This medication effectively alleviates pain and motor incoordination symptoms occurring during acute exacerbation of osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis) in a short time. It is also used to treat various symptoms caused by rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. This drug reduces inflammation and pain in the joints, helping to improve the patient's daily life. Therefore, it is effective for the treatment of symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis.
1. Acute exacerbation of osteoarthritis (degenerative arthritis): ○ Adults: Administer 7.5 mg of meloxicam orally once daily. If symptoms do not improve, the dose may be increased to 15 mg per day as needed. 2. Rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis: ○ Adults: Administer 15 mg of this medicine orally once daily. The dose may be reduced to 7.5 mg per day depending on response to treatment. Do not administer more than 15 mg of this medicine per day. Take it with water or another beverage during a meal. ○ In elderly patients or patients at increased risk of adverse reactions, treatment is usually initiated at a dose of 7.5 mg per day. ○ Patients with severe renal failure undergoing hemodialysis should not receive more than 7.5 mg per day.
This medication may cause gastric bleeding in individuals who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol daily, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking it. This drug can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, so patients with heart disease or risk factors must carefully monitor symptoms, and if symptoms such as chest pain or shortness of breath occur, they should stop taking it immediately. This drug can cause severe gastrointestinal side effects such as gastric bleeding, ulcers, and perforations; therefore, special caution is required for elderly patients or those with a history of gastrointestinal disorders. Serious allergic reactions on the skin or symptoms like rash and mucosal damage may occur, so if these symptoms appear, the medication should be stopped immediately. This medication may affect liver and kidney function; patients with liver or kidney diseases must undergo regular examinations and discontinue use if any abnormalities arise. This drug should not be administered to specific allergic patients, those with gastrointestinal bleeding, severe liver dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, heart failure, hypertension, adolescents under 15, pregnant or lactating women. Elderly patients may experience more severe reactions due to diminished bodily functions, so they should take the minimum dose with caution. In case of overdose, symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, gastric bleeding, and in severe cases, kidney failure or heart problems may occur, thus, immediate medical attention is necessary, and as there is no antidote, it is important to receive treatment according to the symptoms.
