Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to aminoglycoside antibiotics or who are allergic to bacitracin. Symptoms such as itching or swelling of the eyelids, redness, erythematous conjunctivitis, and temporary burning sensation in the eyes may occur; if these symptoms arise, the use should be immediately discontinued. There may occasionally be irritation or pain in the eyes, so caution is required. When using this medication, it is advisable to check the susceptibility of the infectious agents and use it only for the necessary minimum duration to prevent the development of resistant bacteria. To prevent allergic or shock responses, it is preferable to conduct a thorough medical history and skin reaction tests in advance. Repeated long-term use may lead to excessive proliferation of resistant bacteria, in which case drug use should be discontinued, and appropriate treatment should be followed. The ingredients of this drug should not be used with tetracycline antibiotics. When using systemic aminoglycosides, blood levels should be closely monitored. During treatment, it is recommended to avoid wearing contact lenses to prevent the spread of infection. Instilling the medication may cause temporary blurriness of vision; hence driving or operating machinery should be avoided until vision returns to normal. The risk of bleeding may increase if this drug is used with anticoagulants, so blood tests should be conducted frequently, and the dosage of anticoagulants should be adjusted if necessary. Pregnant women should use it only when necessary, and if breastfeeding, they should either stop breastfeeding or consult a doctor before using it due to potential effects on the baby. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as keratitis, eye redness, increased tear production, and itching of the eyelids may occur, so blood drug levels should be monitored, and if necessary, measures such as dialysis should be taken. This drug should not be injected directly into the eye, and caution is needed as resistance has been reported for some bacteria domestically.
