This medication improves symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia and reduces the size of the enlarged prostate, facilitating urine flow. Additionally, it decreases the frequency of acute urinary retention, reducing inconvenience for the patient. It also alleviates the need for invasive treatments such as prostate surgery or transurethral resection, thus reducing the burden on patients. Overall, it is effectively used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
As finasteride, take 5 mg orally once daily regardless of meals. Even if symptoms improve upon taking the medication, treatment should continue for at least 6 months.
This medication should not be used in children or women. In particular, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should not handle broken pieces of this medication as it can be harmful to a male fetus. While taking this medication, there may be occurrences of mood changes or mental health issues such as depression, so if such symptoms appear, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Patients with allergies or certain genetic metabolic issues, and those with allergies to soybean oil, bean, or peanuts should not use this medication.
