This medication is used to alleviate painful muscle spasms caused by musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical radiculopathy, adhesive capsulitis, and lower back pain. It is also effective in treating spastic paralysis due to neurological diseases, helping to relieve stiffness caused by various cerebrospinal disorders, including cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, post-surgical or trauma sequelae, and cerebral palsy. Thus, it plays an important role in reducing muscle tension and alleviating pain in patients. Therefore, this medication is used to improve symptoms in cases of muscle stiffness or pain.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 50 mg of eperisone hydrochloride orally three times a day after meals. Adjust dosage appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. Firstly, patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or patients with myasthenia gravis should not take it. Additionally, individuals who are genetically unable to digest lactose, such as those with galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption, should not take this medication. Those who are allergic to soybean oil, beans, or peanuts should also exercise caution. This medication should be administered cautiously to patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity, those with impaired liver function, and those with lipid metabolism issues or conditions like hyperlipidemia, diabetic dyslipidemia, or pancreatitis. While taking this medication, serious side effects such as shock, liver function abnormalities, kidney function abnormalities, and anemia may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored. Various side effects, such as skin rash or itchiness, insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, dyspepsia, urinary issues, weakness, dizziness, may also occur. If symptoms of serious skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare provider. While on this medication, drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Also, lipid levels in the blood should be checked regularly to manage lipid overload, and when taking other lipid agents, dosage adjustment may be necessary. Caution should be exercised if taken with similar medications or certain muscle relaxants, as it may cause impaired coordination. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult with a physician before taking this medication, and breastfeeding mothers are advised to either avoid its use or discontinue breastfeeding if possible. Safety in children has not been fully established, so it should be administered to children with caution. Elderly individuals may have impaired body function, so careful dosage adjustment and special attention are required.
