Who takes it
Adults
Adult dose
1. Treatment of active gastric and duodenal ulcers Adults: Administer 300mg of nizatidine once daily at bedtime, or 150mg orally twice daily, in the morning and evening. Most ulcers heal within 4 weeks, but treatment may be continued for up to 8 weeks if necessary. In cases of active gastric ulcer, malignancy must be ruled out before treatment. 2. Prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers Adults: After healing of a duodenal ulcer, administer 150mg orally once daily at bedtime. Treatment may be continued for up to 1 year; results of longer-term treatment are unknown. 3. Gastroesophageal reflux disease Adults: Administer 150mg orally twice daily, in the morning and evening. Treatment may be continued for up to 12 weeks. 4. Improvement of gastric mucosal lesions Adults: Administer 150mg orally twice daily, in the morning and evening, for 2 weeks. 5. Dose adjustment in patients with severe renal impairment The dose should be reduced as follows in patients with renal impairment. Active duodenal ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), benign gastric ulcer: Creatinine clearance 20~50 ml/min: 150mg daily Creatinine clearance < 20 ml/min: 150mg every other day Maintenance therapy: Creatinine clearance 20~50 ml/min: 150mg every other day Creatinine clearance < 20 ml/min: 150mg every 3 days Some elderly patients may have a creatinine clearance below 50mL/min. Based on pharmacokinetic data in patients with renal impairment, the dose should be reduced according to the degree of renal impairment in these patients as well. The clinical impact of this dose reduction in patients with renal impairment has not been evaluated.

This medication is used to treat active gastric and duodenal ulcers, and to prevent the recurrence of duodenal ulcers. It also alleviates heartburn symptoms associated with erosive and ulcerative esophagitis diagnosed via endoscopy and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It helps improve lesions such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling of the gastric mucosa that occur during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis, thereby promoting gastric health. It is effectively used to improve symptoms of various gastrointestinal diseases.

1. Treatment of active gastric and duodenal ulcers Adults: Administer 300mg of nizatidine once daily at bedtime, or 150mg orally twice daily, in the morning and evening. Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to H2-receptor antagonists. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients who have had allergic reactions to the drug or have issues with liver and kidney function. In particular, patients with impaired kidney function may have increased drug concentrations, necessitating a reduction in dosage or an increase in dosing intervals. While taking this medication, allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or difficulty breathing may occur infrequently, and if such symptoms occur, administration should be halted immediately. Blood-related side effects may include anemia or changes in white blood cell count, so if abnormal symptoms arise, discontinue use and consult a doctor. Gastrointestinal issues such as constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, and nausea may occur. Liver function abnormalities may present; therefore, if symptoms of hepatitis or jaundice appear, it should be reported immediately. Confusion, headache, drowsiness, dizziness may infrequently occur, and cases of seizures have also been reported, so caution is needed. Transient tachycardia may occur. In women, gynecomastia may rarely occur, and in men, erectile dysfunction or decreased libido has been reported, though infrequently. Skin reactions such as rash, urticaria, or sweating may be seen. Hyperuricemia may occur, with symptoms including fever, chest pain, myalgia, rhinitis, pharyngitis, and cough reported. This medication can mask symptoms of stomach cancer, so it should only be used after confirming it is not a malignant condition. Because it is primarily excreted through the kidneys, dose adjustments may be necessary in patients with severely impaired kidney function. Regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests should be conducted during treatment, and the medication should be used at the minimum effective dose; if there is no efficacy, it is advisable to switch to another medication. Pregnant or nursing women should only use this medication when necessary due to uncertain safety. Safety in children has not been established, and elderly patients may have a higher likelihood of impaired kidney function, so kidney function tests should be performed before administration, and careful monitoring should be conducted during treatment. In case of overdose, symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea may appear, and treatment for drug removal may be required. This medication has minimal serious interactions with other drugs; however, caution should be exercised when taken concurrently with high doses of aspirin, as serum salicylate levels may increase.
