Improvement of benign prostatic hyperplasia symptoms and urinary flow, reduction of surgical necessity
This medication helps to alleviate symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. It reduces the size of enlarged prostatic tissue and facilitates smooth urinary flow. It also decreases the frequency of acute urinary retention, which is a sudden onset of urinary difficulty, thereby alleviating discomfort for the patient. By taking this medication, the necessity for surgical interventions such as transurethral resection of the prostate or prostatectomy may be reduced. Overall, this medication effectively improves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
As finasteride, take 5 mg orally once a day, irrespective of meals. Even if symptoms improve upon taking the medication, a minimum of 6 months of treatment is required.
