Treatment of musculoskeletal pain-related muscle spasms and neurologic spastic paralysis
This medication is effective for painful muscle spasms related to musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical radiculopathy, adhesive capsulitis, and low back pain. It is also used to treat spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders and can assist in various neurological issues such as cerebrovascular disorders, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, and sequelae of several central nervous system diseases. It helps relieve muscle stiffness and pain, contributing to a reduction in daily life discomfort. This drug improves symptoms by regulating muscle tension and aids in overall physical recovery, thus being used to treat various symptoms related to musculoskeletal and neurological systems.
Adults: Administer 50 mg of Eperisone hydrochloride orally three times a day after meals. Adjust dosage appropriately based on age and symptoms.
This drug should not be used in certain patients. Firstly, those who have experienced allergic reactions to this drug should avoid it. Also, patients with very weak muscles, such as those with myasthenia gravis, should not take this medication. This drug contains lactose, and individuals with genetic conditions that prevent lactose digestion should also avoid it. Patients allergic to soybean oil, soybean, or peanuts should not use this drug. There are patients who need to be careful when using this medication. People with a history of drug allergies should use it cautiously. Patients with poor liver function should be cautious as this drug can worsen liver function. Furthermore, patients with high blood lipid levels or metabolic conditions such as diabetic dyslipidemia or pancreatitis should also use it carefully. When taking this medication, various side effects may occur. Rarely, shock reactions may appear, so symptoms should be closely monitored, and if abnormal symptoms arise, usage should be immediately halted, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Liver enzyme levels may also increase, so regular liver function tests are necessary. It may also affect kidney function, resulting in proteinuria or elevated blood test levels, thus caution is required. Allergic reactions such as anemia, skin rashes, and itching may also occur. Neurological symptoms may include insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, and limb paralysis. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain. Urological symptoms may include difficulty urinating or urinary incontinence. Systemically, symptoms such as weakness, dizziness, and decreased muscle tone may arise. Rarely, facial flushing, sweating, and edema may also occur. Furthermore, very rarely, serious allergic reactions like anaphylaxis or angioedema have been reported. Serious skin reactions like toxic epidermal necrolysis syndrome may also occur, so if symptoms such as fever, skin rash, blisters, or conjunctival injection appear, medication should be stopped immediately. Generally, during the use of this drug, weakness, staggering, and drowsiness may occur, so if such symptoms are present, dosage should be reduced or usage should be stopped. Additionally, because drowsiness or decreased attention can occur, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Patients at risk of lipid overload should regularly check their blood lipid levels and adjust the dosage if necessary. Caution is needed when using this drug with other medications. Particularly when used in combination with similar drugs or muscle relaxants, motor control disorders may appear, so consultation with a specialist is advised. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should only use this drug if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety profile has not been established. Nursing mothers are advised to avoid this drug if possible and, if it must be taken, should discontinue breastfeeding. The safety for children has not been sufficiently confirmed, so it should be used with caution. The elderly may have reduced body function, so it should be used cautiously by adjusting the dosage.
