This medication is used for painful muscle spasms accompanying musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical strain syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain. It is also effective for various sequelae of neurological diseases, including spastic paralysis, cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal paralysis, spinal cord injuries, and cerebral palsy. It helps alleviate muscle stiffness and reduce pain in these disorders. Therefore, this medication is used to improve symptoms related to muscle stiffness.

How to take

Adult dose

As Eperisone Hydrochloride, take 50mg orally three times a day after meals. Adjust dosage as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to patients with an allergic reaction to this medication or those with myasthenia gravis. Additionally, patients with genetic disorders that prevent the breakdown of lactose or allergies to soybean oil, soybeans, or peanuts should also avoid its use. Some patients require cautious approach when using this drug. Patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity, poor liver function, or abnormalities in fat metabolism need special attention. This medication can rarely cause serious side effects, so symptoms should be closely monitored. For instance, there may be shock due to allergic reactions, and there can be abnormalities in liver or kidney function. Additionally, blood disorders, skin rashes, psychological symptoms, gastrointestinal issues, urinary tract problems, and systemic symptoms may occur; if abnormal symptoms arise, use should be discontinued immediately, and medical attention should be sought. Severe skin abnormalities may occur, so if symptoms such as fever, erythema, blisters, itching, eye redness, and stomatitis appear, medication should be stopped immediately. Generally, during the use of this medication, symptoms such as weakness, drowsiness, and unsteadiness may appear; if these symptoms occur, the dosage should be reduced or discontinued. Additionally, drowsiness or decreased concentration may occur, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication contains fatty components, so patients with problems in fat metabolism should monitor their blood lipid levels and adjust the dosage accordingly. When used with other lipid-related medications, total lipid amounts should be considered for adjustment. Caution is advised when using this medication with similar drugs, as visual disturbances may occur. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits to treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Nursing mothers should avoid its use if possible, and if unavoidable, discontinuing breastfeeding is preferable.
