It is also effective in alleviating abdominal discomfort and symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is used to improve habitual vomiting and non-infectious intestinal transit disorders, such as constipation or diarrhea. In this way, it comprehensively alleviates various gastrointestinal-related symptoms, enhancing patients' quality of life.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Administer 100-200 mg of trimebutine maleate orally, 3 times a day before meals. Adjust the dosage as appropriate according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may rarely cause gastrointestinal effects, leading to symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, borborygmi (abdominal gas sounds), nausea, vomiting, digestive disorders, dry mouth, and oral numbness. In addition, symptoms of palpitations may rarely occur. It can also affect the central nervous system, potentially leading to fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches. It may impact liver function, causing elevated liver enzyme levels such as GOT and GPT. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes may rarely occur, so if such symptoms appear, discontinue use of the medication. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been clearly established, so it should only be used when the benefits of treatment are determined to outweigh the risks in women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid using this medication as its safety has not been established, and if it must be taken, it is advisable to stop breastfeeding.
