Precautions

This medication is an aminoglycoside antibiotic and should not be used in patients who are allergic to this drug or similar class medications. When used in the eyes, symptoms such as eyelid itching, swelling, redness, conjunctival hyperemia, and temporary burning sensation may occur, and if these symptoms develop, use should be discontinued immediately. Occasionally, there may be eye irritation or pain, so caution is needed. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, it is advisable to check the sensitivity to the infecting strains and use it for only the minimum necessary duration. It is important to review any past allergic reactions or shock responses thoroughly, and skin tests should be performed if necessary for safety. Prolonged or repeated use may result in excessive growth of resistant bacteria, so in such cases, discontinuation and appropriate treatment are required. It is advisable not to use this medication in conjunction with specific antibiotics. When used with other aminoglycoside medications, blood levels should be carefully monitored. During treatment, it is best to avoid wearing contact lenses to prevent the spread of infection. Temporary visual impairment may occur after use, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided until vision returns to normal. There may be an increased risk of bleeding when taking this medication with anticoagulants, so regular monitoring of coagulation status and adjustment of drug dosage may be necessary. During pregnancy, no teratogenic effects have been reported in animal studies; however, it should only be used when absolutely necessary. If nursing, it may pose a risk to the baby, so breastfeeding should be discontinued or used after consulting a physician. In case of overdose, symptoms such as inflammation, redness, increased tears, swelling, and itching may occur, and blood levels should be managed, and treatments such as hemodialysis may be necessary. This drug should not be injected directly into the eye, and single-use products should be used immediately after opening, with any unused portion discarded.
