Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with poor liver function. It should also be avoided in patients with impaired liver or severe kidney function. It is safest for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and for nursing mothers not to use this medication. Additionally, individuals with allergies to this medication or its ingredients, patients with gallbladder disease, those who have experienced photosensitivity or phototoxic reactions, children, patients with biliary cirrhosis, and those with pancreatitis should not use this medication. Patients with mildly impaired kidney function or a history of kidney issues should take this medication with caution, and it may be necessary to reduce the dosage or extend the dosing interval. Patients with abnormal liver function or a history of liver problems should also use this medication carefully. Patients with hypoalbuminemia, a history of gallstones, those taking anticoagulants, patients on other treatments for hyperlipidemia, and elderly individuals should be cautious when taking this medication. This medication can affect the liver and biliary system, potentially causing elevated liver enzyme levels, hepatitis, and gallstone formation. Skin reactions such as rashes, itching, or photosensitivity may occur, and hair loss can occur rarely. Neurologically, symptoms such as dizziness, headache, and weakness may manifest, and there is a risk of thromboembolism in the vascular system. Muscle pain, muscle spasms, and muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis) have also been reported, so if there are any abnormal symptoms in the muscles, consult a physician immediately. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can frequently occur, and pancreatitis may occur rarely. Adverse effects have also been reported in the respiratory system, blood, and kidneys, necessitating periodic testing. This medication may interact with other drugs, particularly cholesterol-lowering agents, anticoagulants, antidiabetic medications, urate-lowering medications, oral contraceptives, hepatotoxic medications, and immunosuppressants, so caution is advised when used in combination. During pregnancy, there is a risk of harm to the fetus, so it should not be used, and it is also recommended to avoid use while nursing. This medication is not for use in children. Elderly individuals may have reduced liver and kidney function, so extra caution is required when using this medication, and serum creatinine levels should be regularly checked. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so caution is advised, and it should be kept out of reach of children in a safe place. Long-term use of this medication has been reported to cause liver tumors in rodents, so strict adherence to a physician's instructions is necessary for long-term administration.
