Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to iodine. This medication contains alcohol, which is flammable, so it must be used only after the solution has completely dried during procedures that pose a fire risk, such as electrosurgery or laser treatments. When using on areas that will receive heat treatment during surgery, ensure that the solution is not pooled and that the skin and surrounding areas are dry. Isopropyl alcohol contained in this medication may irritate the eyes, so it should not be used around the eyes, and if it comes into contact with the eyes, they should be rinsed immediately with clean water. Avoid using on the ears or mucous membranes. Care should be taken when using iodine daily in infants, as this may increase the iodine concentration in the blood. Rarely, skin irritation or allergic reactions may occur as a result of using this medication. Applying solutions containing iodine to burned or wounded areas may lead to systemic side effects such as metabolic acidosis, elevated potassium levels in the blood, and decreased kidney function, so caution is advised. Currently, no significant interactions with other medications are known. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is limited and may affect the thyroid function of the fetus or newborn; consult a physician before use. If this medication is accidentally ingested in large amounts, appropriate treatment should be provided according to symptoms, and periodic checks of electrolyte balance and thyroid function should be performed.
